The National Parvin Etesami Film Festival in Iran rolls out names of films to vie at the latest edition of the event.
The festival, running on February 12-17, 2017, bears the name of renowned Iranian female poet Parvin Etesami.
The selected films will vie for the in the short film competitive section of the event under the category “Female Directors with ‘Free’ theme and Male Directors with ‘Woman’ theme”.
The jury panel for the 9th edition of the event selected 140 films in the compettion section of the event, 87 of which were made by female directors.
Shadi Saeedee’s ‘Down’, ‘Like a Butterfly on Heart’ by Maryam Khalilzadeh and ‘Man of Dust’ by Mahsa Samani were among such selected films.
Parvin, aka Rakhshandeh, was born in March 17th, 1907, in Tabriz. She is said to have started composing poetry when she was eight years old. Safar-e ashk (Journey of a tear) counts among the finest lyrics ever written in Persian.
